85 Ha’Yarden Street
Ramat Gan
A 10-storey residential building located in the city of Ramat-Gan. The building includes 31 units ranging from 2 to 4 bedrooms. The neighborhood itself and the street in particular are undergoing major urban renovation as a result of the municipality’s effort to revitalize the area.
At the heart of the project lies the assumption that it is possible with regular means and a modest budget to design a unique and environmentally friendly building providing a fresh addition to an area mainly consisting of drab construction. The organization of the building masses allows variation in the apartments characteristics and creates a three-dimensional façade facing the street.
As a new interpretation of the typical louver, the design incorporates vertical wooden shading elements which allow a wide degree of variation in the exposure towards the street, both as a means of controlling the amount of sunlight entering the apartment and as an expression of urban existence which requires variable degrees of privacy.
